Word of the week : Flexibility

June 9th, 2020

From now on, every week, My Sherpa chooses a word to put forward, because it's "in fashion", because it must be explained, and, above all, because it is echoed in our values and principles .

Today, focus on « Flexibility ».

Flexibility

The term "flexible business" was introduced in 1980 by John Atkinson, a researcher at the Manpower Institute for Studies. More than 30 years later, despite a significant evolution in working methods, trades, industrial sectors and the birth of a new so-called "collaborative" economy, the concept of flexible business may seem vague for many people.

Above all, businesses need people who can work flexibly. But what is "being flexible" ?A business can be considered flexible if it is flexible on :

  • From his working hours,
  • From his / her workplaces,
  • From his participation in projects,
  • His willingness to take on new things,
  • From his personal training,
  • Etc.
